Our GW13 article see’s Juan Mata facing off against Mesut Ozil for our Versus topic this weekend. Basically, it is a look at who could bag the most assists this weekend.
Juan Mata – Manchester United:

Picked by 18% of Fantasy managers so far, Juan Mata has scored a respectable 65 points so far this season. This is with the highest, 14 coming at home against Sunderland in GW7, in which the Spaniard scored and assisted in a 3-0 win. So far, this season Mata’s goals and assists record stands at 4 scored and 3 assisted. Not bad, for the Spanish International.
This has helped Manchester United to reach fourth position in the Premier League, but with a need for improvement. If Manchester United are to really challenge for the Title especially after Christmas, Mata will need to step up his assists as well as goals, but that will only make up a percentage of what needs to be done.
Manchester United’s next 5 matches are: Watford, Leicester City, West Ham, Bournemouth and Norwich. I fully expect there to be wins at Watford, Bournemouth and Norwich, with draws coming against Leicester City and West Ham.
Mesut Ozil – Arsenal:

Picked by 23% of Fantasy managers so far, Mesut Ozil has scored a whopping, 72 points so far this campaign. That really is telling something, if you compare him with Eden Hazard who is “still” picked by 16% of FPL managers having scored a measly 38 points.
If you try to compare him and Juan Mata, there is no comparison, really! Even though Mata has scored 3 more goals than the German, it is the German that is winning the assist race, in street shoes, with a colossal 10 assists. His two best weeks came, one after the other, against Manchester United and Watford. In two 3-0 scorelines in the Gunners favour, Ozil bagged a goal and an assist (against Manchester United) and two assists versus Watford.
Taking his total for just those two weeks to 13 and 12 points respectively.
Arsenal’s next 5 games are: West Brom, Norwich, Sunderland, Aston Villa and Manchester City. Out of those five games, I fully expect the Gunners to win the first four and grab a draw against the Cityzens.
Conclusion:
If you are only concentrating on this weekend, then go with the Spaniard, as West Brom can be tricky opponents. If you are thinking about the long term though, for the next four weeks, go with the German, this is as Arsenal are on a bit of a roll at the moment.
If you are looking at the Manchester City fixture that the Gunners have just before Christmas. Let me remind you that it is at the Emirates and allow me to also remind you that anything can happen in football.
Look at what Arsenal did at home against Manchester United.
